This course is for riders with minimal previous experience (Intermediate)

If you haven’t already taken the Theory Test, then the course will start with an hour to take this at a DVSA Theory Test Centre.

We have two different types of Intermediate A1 Courses for those with a CBT and those without. However, both courses are quite similar, and both are suitable for people with minimal previous experience. They are further sub-divided for those with a Theory Test and those without.

The first day will either be a CBT, or a Roadrider Session. The CBT is an introduction to motorcycles or scooters for novices and it is a legal requirement that you complete this before you can ride on the road with L-plates or take your motorcycle tests – you will need two sessions.. All the training will be done on a geared 125cc motorcycle or automatic scooter. The Roadrider Session is for people that have already taken and hold a valid CBT certificate, with the purpose being to improve balance and clutch control ahead of preparing for Module 1 and 2. We will also cover all the jargon that you’re likely to encounter during your full licence training (e.g. lifesavers)

The next step is the Mod 1 Training Session where you will go through all the training required for the Module 1 Motorcycle Test. This session will be in the training area. The session is spent covering the slow manoeuvres; slalom, figure of eight, U-turn, slow ride and pushing & parking. This is followed by the faster exercises: controlled stop, emergency stop and avoidance (swerve).

The fourth session is Mod 1 Test Session, which has the Module 1 Test but essentially is a road skills-based session. The test takes about 15 minutes. Almost the entire session will be spent on the road in preparation for the Module 2 Test. However, there may be a small amount of time for extra Module 1 practice.

The fifth session is Mod 2 Training Session which is entirely based on the road and prepares you for the Module 2 Test. The final session is the Mod 2 Test Session and is normally done 3 working days after the Module 1 Test. Topics like the Show Me/Tell Me questions and the Independent Ride will be covered. The Module 2 test is usually taken half way through the session with an hour warm up beforehand. This takes about 45 minutes – and once passed you will have a full licence to ride any motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc.

• Mod 2 Test Session & Module 2 Motorcycle Test

Intermediate Course with CBT

As you have passed your Theory Test and have minimal previous experience of riding a geared motorcycle or scooter we recommend an Intermediate Course which is made up of the following components:

• Mod 1 Test Session & Module 1 Motorcycle Test
• Mod 2 Training Session
• Mod 2 Test Session & Module 2 Motorcycle Test

The total cost for this course is: £1,014.50 which includes motorcycle/scooter hire, fuel, insurance and equipment as well as test fees etc.

Intermediate Course with Theory Test

As you have not passed your Theory Test (or it has expired) but have minimal previous experience of riding a geared motorcycle or scooter including having a current CBT certificate we recommend an Intermediate Course which is made up of the following components:
